Using A Big Bend RV Park

By Chasity Sheppard

There are many ways to spend your precious vacation days, but visiting a national park is a really rewarding one. You get to view nature at its best, while exploring all the local area has to offer. You could certainly stay in a motel or hotel when you visit a place like Big Bend, but a lot of people love to camp using their recreational vehicle. Luckily, there are plenty of Big Bend RV park choices in the area to accommodate you.

The first thing you should look for is whether or not the facility has electricity hookups available to people who stay there. Some will have easy hookups to generators, while others may insist you bring your own generator. Ask about your options before you go so you aren't caught without electricity.

In addition to electricity, water is a huge amenity that needs to be asked about before booking. Many places have water hoses or pumps that you can hook your recreational vehicle up to. However, others may not have hookups, which means you will have to fill your RV's water tank manually before checking in.

If you want to bring Fido on your vacation, make sure the park you choose allows pets. Some have very strict anti-pet rules, while others will allow you to bring a pet, through there may be restrictions. These restrictions might include leash rules, and you will likely be required to pick up after your dog, so be sure to bring some waste bags with you.

If you can't go more than a couple of hours without checking your e-mail, then be sure to inquire about whether the facility you are thinking of using has Internet access. For a long time, most park facilities did not have wireless access, but more and more are offering it now, though an extra fee may be involved.

If you just want to camp for a few days, there are daily rates available at any local facility. However, you can extend your stay and go for a week or even a month if you prefer. The good news is that there may be some discounts available if you stay longer, so make sure to ask about it before you book your reservation.

The Big Bend area experiences good weather almost all year, which is another reason why it is a top vacation destination. This means that most of the RV parks in the are open all year, though a few may close over the winter. Be sure to make a reservation in advance so you know whether the park will be open or not during your chosen vacation days.

Going to a national park for a vacation will allow you to spend quality time with friends or family while also taking in some fairly breathtaking sites. If you stay in a Big Bend RV park, you will get to see even more of nature. There are lots of them in the area, so look for the amenities that you absolutely must have, and then choose the one that is right for you.
